The Developmental Mathematics Department at South Texas College is dedicated to helping students acquire the necessary mathematical skills to meet TSI standards and to be successful in academic level mathematics courses.

The program consists of three courses:

Math 80 - Basic Mathematics
Math 85 - Introductory Algebra
Math 90 - Intermediate Algebra

Each course consists of 3 hours of lecture and 1 hour of lab.  Students spend one hour of class time a week in a computer lab working on online assignments or quizzes prepared by the instructor.  Students receive immediate feedback on the problems they are working on.

The program is also piloting a two-course sequence to reduce the number of semesters student spend studying developmental mathematics:

Math 100 - Developmental Math I
Math 200 - Developmental Math II

Each course consists of 3 hours of lecture and 3 hours of lab each week.

The Developmental Mathematics Department offers a variety of enrolling options to meet the needs of students, such as courses with supplemental instruction, online courses, and self-paced courses.  For more information on these options, see enrollment options.
